Energizer to Illustrate a Concept -- Around the World From A to BThis activity is a great energizer when time allows for a 15-20 minute team building activity. I have used it after lunch, when an energizer is needed, and find it easy to link the learning from this activity to just about any topic: team building, communication, leadership, problem-solving, creativity/innovation, etc. Split the group into teams. Give
each team a road map or a globe and a location (A & B). Their task is to find the most
direct route between the two. You can add criteria to this such as they must
only use A roads or use only road and sea travel, not air. A time limit can be set in
order to draw out planning skills. Ask each group to provide feedback to the
other group about their solution. It is quite probable that there will be a
number of different solutions to the same problem. Sample debriefing questions:
Tip: You may want to consider getting an inflatable globe or two for easy packing and travel. You can find one reasonably priced at your local toy store, museum store, or at IQ Toys. |
